I think that school uniforms symbolizes the ideals of the school and thus should be respected. Students should wear them properly, even if they find it a hassle. However, some students feel that the design is lousy and feel embarrassed. Over time, they will feel that the school uniform is not necessary. In a way, these students may be right. The school uniform is unflattering to the students' image and many are just replicas of prestigious school uniforms. Maybe more schools should adapt to the polytechnic dress code; students can wear whatever they want, they can express themselves more creatively and it also expresses their uniqueness as an individual.

I like your suggestion that students can be allowed to wear their own clothes to school. However, a certain set of guidelines can be put in place to ensure that students do not come to school in mini skirts, slippers and etc.:)
